Will invest €200 million in two sites
April 13, 2018
By: Tara Olivo
Associate Editor at Nonwovens Industry
Zele, Belgium-based Drylock Technologies will open two new production sites in Europe in 2018 as it invests further behind its revolutionary Baby Diaper Magical Tubes technology and starts to further scale up operations with a new €200 million investment program. Demand for Drylock’s Magical Tubes proprietary absorbent core technology is causing Drylock to scale up European production in 2018 with a more than doubling of its European production capacity. Drylock will open two new European production sites simultaneously in the next months. This follows the already announced addition of two production sites to the Drylock Technologies group in Brazil in January 2018 with the acquisition of the Mardam and Capricho companies. The two new production sites will be located in Europe, with one in central Spain and the other in Hradek, Czech Republic, thereby enabling Drylock to better serve its European customer base. Drylock will hereby add an additional 50,000 square meters of new production capacity with these two initiatives. In Segovia Drylock will be breaking new ground with a site that will be set to serve Southern European customers to better effect and ensure the continued expansion of the Drylock Magical Tubes baby platform as Drylock responds to rising demand for this winning product concept. In the Czech Republic the expansion of the flagship Hradek site involves doubling up on the already existing facility. This expansion will include both a new production site as well as a new warehouse facility. This expansion program in both central Spain-Segovia and Hradek has gone hand in hand with a recruitment drive to staff up at both new facilities. As a dynamic family owned growth company Drylock is proud to welcome on board a new generation of employees who will support the company’s mission to bring innovation to market in the Personal Care business segment. A key factor in this €200 million expansion program has been the ongoing success of the Drylock Magical Tubes technology following its launch to market in the baby diapers segment in May 2017 and first on shelves in October 2017. This successful launch program has followed exhaustive consumer testing proving out a winning product concept that delivered new standards in the private label baby diaper consumer experience with improved leakage control, better fit and the enablement of air flow next to the skin. In May 2018 at the upcoming private label retail exhibition, PLMA in Amsterdam (Hall 9, Booth N-2601), Drylock will be further launching to market Magical Tubes in Baby Pants and explaining more about the new upgraded Adult Pant product concept as a follow up to the success in Baby Diapers. Bart Van Malderen, CEO and chairman of Drylock Technologies has said that “the achievements of Drylock management-project teams in getting these new production facilities ready in such short time has been truly outstanding – I am proud to make this announcement and as ever look forward to welcoming our customers to see our new facilities and joining the Drylock Magical Tubes revolution.’’
